|
US Assistant Secretary of State visits Viet Nam |

(VNA-02/02/2012) - The US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Kurt Campbell, had a meeting with a number of Vietnamese officials in Ha Noi on Feb. 2 as part of his visit to Viet Nam.
He met with Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Luong Minh, and Deputy Director of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs Vuong Thua Phong.The two sides expressed their pleasure at the development of the Viet Nam-US relations over the past time, both bilaterally and multilaterally, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The two sides discussed measures to further boost bilateral ties, especially in economy, trade, investment, science and technology, education and training, coping with climate change and sea level rise.

Foreign and Defence Ministers receive US Senator John McCain |

(VNA - 20/01/2012) - Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Defence Minister Phung Quang Thanh on Jan. 19 hosted receptions in Ha Noi for a visiting US delegation led by Senator John McCain.
At a reception hosted by Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, McCain said he appreciates the achievements made by Viet Nam and expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Minh expressed thanks for the support of the US Government and the US Senator in particular, for development in Viet Nam.
The two sides discussed co-operation between the two countries and other issues of common concern.

Vietnamese leaders welcome US Senators |
|
(VNA - 19/01/2012) - Viet Nam considers the US as one of its leading partners and wants to bring the two countries' relations to a new height, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
PM Dung made the statement while receiving four US Senators led by Senator John McCain in Ha Noi on Jan. 19.
He underlined the necessity for both sides to further cooperation in economics, trade and investment.
The PM proposed US Senators urge their government to soon recognise Viet Nam's market economy and grant the generalised system of preference to Viet Nam.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received visiting member of US House of Representatives Robert Filner in Hanoi on Jan. 11.
Dung hailed Robert Filner’s efforts in supporting Agent Orange victims as well as his close cooperation with Vietnamese associates in dealing with AO/dioxin consequences.
